A charming three-dimensional kiwi bird brooch crafted in silver-toned metal with detailed feather texturing throughout the body. The body features a striking inlaid piece of natural paua shell (New Zealand abalone) displaying iridescent blues, greens, and turquoise with characteristic swirling patterns. The kiwi is depicted in a classic foraging pose with its distinctive long curved beak pointing downward and sturdy legs. Fine engraved detail work mimics feathers across the wings and body. The brooch has a pin and C-clasp fastening on the reverse. Measures approximately 2.1cm wide. No visible maker’s marks, typical of souvenir pieces from this era.
