Vintage Kitsch Ceramic Woodland Animals Biscuit Barrel with Cane Handle

A charming vintage hand-painted ceramic biscuit barrel featuring a whimsical woodland scene in raised relief — a Bambi-style fawn, a bluebird, a bunny in a knitted cap, a wide-eyed owl, and a black-and-white skunk/kitten character nestled among painted leaves and flowers. Finished in a bright, kitschy palette of yellow, green, pink and blue, with a cane (rattan) swing handle wrapped in pink-and-natural bands, and a domed lid with matching painted decoration and a yellow ball finial. Likely mid-century Japanese ceramic ware, in the popular style of novelty biscuit/cookie barrels made for the export market in the 1950s–60s. No visible maker’s mark.

Condition: Good vintage condition with typical age-related surface marks. One chip underside of lid which doesn’t affect use or appearance.
