Vintage Hong Kong Carved Wood & Embroidered Lace Folding Fan

A pretty vintage folding hand fan with pierced and gilt-decorated wooden sticks and guards, featuring scrolling foliate motifs painted in gold over a warm honey-toned wood. The fan leaf is a sheer cream/champagne net (organza-style) fabric, richly embroidered in  thread with floral and foliate motifs and several drawn-thread/filet lace medallions, finished with a scalloped cream lace edge. A brass  loop is attached at the pivot, stamped “HONG KONG,” indicating manufacture there, likely mid-20th century, in a style referencing earlier Victorian/Edwardian fan design. 

Condition: general age-related wear — some foxing/discolouration to the net fabric, a few loose threads in the embroidery, and light wear to the gilt decoration on the sticks.
