Original 1966 Australian pressing of The Beatles’ groundbreaking seventh studio album “Revolver” on Parlophone Records (catalog numbers PMCO 7009 mono/PCSO 7009 stereo), manufactured and distributed by E.M.I. (Australia) Limited, Sydney, New South Wales. This is a significant pressing as Australian releases often differed from UK and US versions.
Features the iconic Klaus Voormann cover artwork - one of the most celebrated album designs in rock history - with intricate pen and ink line drawings of the Beatles’ hair intertwined with photographs and collaged images of the band throughout their career. Voormann won the Grammy Award for Best Album Cover for this revolutionary design. Back cover photograph by Robert Whitaker. Recording produced by George Martin. Copyright 1966.
Classic tracks include “Taxman” (Harrison), “Eleanor Rigby,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Here, There and Everywhere,” “Good Day Sunshine,” “Got to Get You Into My Life,” “Tomorrow Never Knows,” and more. This album marked a major artistic leap for the band with innovative studio techniques and psychedelic influences.
This copy shows age-appropriate wear consistent with a nearly 60-year-old Australian pressing. Visible edge wear, corner damage, spine wear, and aging to the cover. Previous owner’s notation “Fred Reed” and price marking on top edge. The Klaus Voormann artwork remains largely intact despite wear. A historically important pressing from the height of Beatlemania in Australia.
Original 1966 Australian Parlophone pressings of Revolver are highly collectible. Australian pressings can command premiums due to their rarity outside Australia and historical significance in the Beatles’ touring history (their final tour was in 1966).
