Streatfeild is best known for Ballet Shoes and The Circus Is Coming (which won the Carnegie Medal). This scarce title tells the story of a dragon character the Streatfeild sisters invented in their own childhood. Original cream cloth boards with green/orange lettering, matching pictorial dust jacket. Interior includes line illustrations throughout.

Condition: dust jacket shows significant wear — toning/browning overall, staining, small tears and chips along edges and spine, with a split at the top of the spine. Cloth boards appear clean and solid underneath. Title and half-title pages present and clean; publisher’s imprint page confirms “First Published 1939.”
