Description
A cylindrical wooden box with fitted lid, measuring approximately 8cm high. The lid features part of a hand-painted devotional portrait of a female saint or the Virgin Mary, rendered in traditional iconographic style. The portrait is set within concentric decorative bands in red. The wood shows natural aging with visible grain patterns and patina consistent with age. Chips around the lid edge. Lots of wear visible.
The religious iconography and folk art quality make it appealing to collectors of both devotional items and antique boxes.
